Italian Beauty Labs : It is New !
Brand new! Italian Beauty Labs was created in September 2024 on an 8,000 m² site (purchased to demonstrate the commitment of its directors to long-term success) in Cambiago, near Milan, in the heart of Italy’s Cosmetic Valley. The investment amounted to €10 million. The company now has 20 employees and expects to achieve a turnover of €3 million in 2026. This year, the Italian company launched a new range of products for the complexion, eyes and lips. It claims to focus not only on innovation, but also on anticipating the real needs of the beauty sector. For complexion, it offers light foundations and formulas. For eyes, it develops long-lasting formulas, ranging from eye shadows to multi-purpose creams and new-generation mascaras. For lips, its range offers textures that combine comfort, hold and bright colours. We discuss this with Kian Feyzgiu, Managing Director.
Your ambition is to become a genuine alternative partner for many major players in the market. You are targeting the United States, Europe and the Middle East. What are your strengths?
Kian Feyzgiu: Before answering that question directly, I’d like to take a brief look back. After the phenomenal sales recorded by all contract manufacturers in the wake of the pandemic, which attracted significant private investment in the sector, it was inevitable that 2024 and 2025 would be periods of stagnation. For many companies in the formulation sector, this forced them to make considerable management efforts to ensure the best possible service.
However, there is one unavoidable fact in our industry: when a supplier exceeds £50-60 million in turnover, it is very rare for managers to have complete control over the day-to-day operations of the business. The complexity of our business quickly reaches a threshold beyond which it is difficult to guarantee high-quality products and services. As a result, companies often face delivery delays and quality issues.
To address these challenges, most manufacturers add layers of hierarchy that introduce additional procedures. Unfortunately, these complex procedures tend to slow down flows even further, creating significant internal inefficiency.
It is precisely for this reason that we decided to create a company that tackles these issues head-on.
Half of our investment has been devoted to operations (implementing SAP as the primary ERP system and introducing a lean manufacturing program designed to permanently solve the challenge of ‘complete and on-time delivery’.
In terms of R&D, we have assembled an exceptional team of proven managers. Our five senior executives are recognized leaders in their respective fields (face emulsions, eye emulsions, anhydrous products, powders and colour development). Finally, our marketing team, working closely with our regulatory managers, is developing collections that are sure to please.
You are launching at a time when geopolitical and economic issues are complex!
Kian Feyzgiu: That’s true, but I am aware of the added value of ‘Made in Italy’ products, not only in terms of formulation but also in terms of effectiveness, and I am not too concerned about the medium- and long-term outlook. In the short term, this could lead to a slight slowdown in sales in the United States. However, the market should be able to absorb the tariffs that have been put in place, especially since we do not yet know how long they will remain in effect.
I would also like to add that we are proud to be based in the heart of Italy’s Cosmetic Valley, a dynamic region renowned for its excellence in cosmetics production. Surrounded by a dynamic network of suppliers, our location gives us a unique advantage. This strategic position allows us to provide high-end, tailor-made cosmetics with unrivalled speed, precision and creativity.
You are launching a whole range of new products!
Kian Feyzgiu: Yes, of course! We are offering a brand new range of products for the complexion, eyes and lips and skin care . As a contract manufacturer, we not only focus on innovation, but also anticipate the real needs of the beauty industry. For complexion, we are working on advanced lightweight foundations and hybrid formulas that beautify the skin. In the eye category, we are developing long-lasting, high-impact formulas ranging from eye shadows to multi-purpose creams and next-generation mascaras. For lips, our range will expand with textures that combine comfort, hold and vibrant colours.
At the same time, we recognise that beauty is not universal. Our R&D and product development are highly market-driven: we design solutions tailored to the specific needs of different regions and consumers around the world. This approach allows us to remain agile, relevant and in tune with the diversity of beauty rituals across cultures. Ultimately, our goal is to empower brands to anticipate trends while resonating deeply with their target markets.
The environment is now a priority for all suppliers in the beauty industry. What are your strengths in this area?
Kian Feyzgiu: Sustainability is a responsibility we take very seriously. One of our main strengths lies in our choice of packaging: we work exclusively with recyclable materials so that every component of our products can have a second life. At the same time, we carefully select our raw materials, favouring those that come from responsible sources and are developed with respect for people and the planet.
