John Zhuang, new CEO of the HCP Group

The HCP Packaging Group (with seven plants in five countries and a total of 5,000 employees) announces the appointment of John Zhuang as President and CEO. He succeeds Warren Ma, who is stepping down for personal reasons and will oversee a structured transition over the coming months.

The press release states that “Mr. Zhuang joins HCP with a strong track record in developing complex global manufacturing operations and delivering measurable improvements in performance and customer satisfaction.” He previously served as CEO of the Poyun Group, one of the world’s leading suppliers of voice coils, diaphragms, acoustic assemblies, magnetic assemblies, and speaker filters. “He has also held executive positions at Visteon, Johnson Controls, and Delphi, which allowed him to gain in-depth expertise in automation, precision engineering, and quality systems—skills that are becoming increasingly important as beauty brands demand faster, more agile, and higher-performing packaging solutions.

An appointment, explains the HCP Group, “that marks a continued commitment to reliability, innovation, and speed to market, without any disruption to existing programs or service levels. HCP will continue to invest in research and development, state-of-the-art manufacturing, and scalable solutions to address the ever-changing trends in the beauty sector, whether it involves hybrid formats combining skincare and makeup or increasingly sophisticated application and dispensing systems.

“’I am delighted to join HCP,” said John Zhuang, “at such a pivotal moment for the beauty industry. The company has a solid foundation, deep expertise, and a clear commitment to its customers. I look forward to building on this momentum: strengthening our capabilities, accelerating innovation, and continuing to provide reliable, high-quality solutions to our global partners.

For his part, outgoing CEO Warren Ma noted that “It has been a privilege to lead HCP and work alongside our clients and teams around the world. I am grateful for the support we have received, and I am confident that, under John’s leadership, HCP will continue to build on its capabilities and achieve exceptional results.

It is worth recalling the interview he gave on June 24 in Full Beauty Suppliers, in which he announced the doubling of the size of the Mexican plant in Reynosa, near McAllen (Texas, U.S.), with an increase in production capacity thanks to a major automation and digitization program; the expansion of the German site, which is becoming the Group’s center of excellence in Europe; and investments in the SIMP factory based in Tigery, France, which specializes in the production of mascara brushes and wipes.

For her part, Janine Feng, Chairwoman of HCP, stated “HCP has made significant progress in strengthening its global operations and competitiveness. The Board of Directors has full confidence in John’s ability to build on these foundations to drive performance, advance innovation, and create long-term value for our customers and partners.
