Albéa is fully committed to the environment: here’s the proof!
With $1.2 billion in revenue last year, 35 factories in 14 countries, $4.5 billion invested in research and development, more than 117,000 employees, and 27 patents developed in 2024, the figures released by the Albéa Group at the end of September are impressive. “Our roadmap is clear,” explains François Tassart, CEO of the Group, “to consolidate our industrial excellence in France while seizing targeted growth opportunities on a global scale. Thanks to a long-term vision and short-term flexibility, we are building a resilient and responsible future for packaging in the beauty sector.” It is also an opportunity to showcase a series of innovations that demonstrate the Group’s commitment to developing packaging that combines lightness, reduced materials, refillability, and sustainable design.
Among the products developed with this in mind are the “EcoSlim Top” series of tubes, which offer weight reductions of up to 62% and a significantly lower carbon footprint. At the same time, the Group is presenting a whole range of single-material and refillable packaging, including Skinstick 2.0 and Hype Compact, as well as The Texture Collection, which uses a new in-mold decoration technology combining design, efficiency, and sustainability.
“Our industrial strategy is clear,” emphasizes François Tassart. "In France, we are streamlining our operations to focus on our core business: injection molding, assembly, and decoration. And we are strengthening our capabilities in areas such as mold manufacturing, notably through the acquisition of the Breton company Conanec Industrie. Internationally, we are pursuing targeted growth, as illustrated by the acquisition of Amfora Packaging in Latin America, which strengthens our ability to serve regional markets and major global customers more effectively. “
Sustainability: a business driver!
”For us, sustainability is a business driver,“ explains Gilles Swyngedauw, VP CSR & Product Sustainability. ”It’s not a trend, it’s a long-standing priority. We have already exceeded our carbon reduction target for 2030 and have provided the market with solutions that combine performance, circularity, and high-end design. For us, responsibility and attractiveness go hand in hand. For more than 20 years, we have integrated environmental and social responsibility into every aspect of our business, and today we continue to accelerate. Our EcoVadis score has risen from 73% to 80%, reflecting our ongoing commitment to strong environmental, social, and ethical performance. In terms of climate change, we have maintained our B rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), in line with our ongoing efforts. In accordance with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we have already exceeded our 2030 carbon emissions reduction target (scope 1 and 2) of 46%, with a reduction of more than 55%. Looking ahead, we are setting new ambitious targets to reduce scope 3 (value chain) emissions by 2033. "
The Group also actively supports industry transparency and traceability as a member of the TRASCE consortium, and is working on the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) by mapping 193 impacts, risks, and opportunities throughout its value chain.
“Our approach to innovation,” insists Gilles Swyngedauw, VP CSR & Product Sustainability, "is closely linked to our sustainability roadmap. Each year, we reinvest around 6% of our revenue in industrial capabilities, employee training, and product innovation. We file between 15 and 30 patents per year, focused on the
development of lighter, refillable, recyclable, or recycled packaging, without compromising performance or design."
Innovations: the highlights!
At the top of the list of new products at the end of this year is “Skinstick 2.0,” a new-generation solid skincare stick for precise and hygienic application of facial skincare formulas. With its round shape and refillable system, it allows users to apply the product exactly where they need it while keeping their hands clean. The entire stick, including the refill, is made of polypropylene (PP).
Next is “Endless Kiss,” a highly versatile lipstick packaging that can be adapted to a wide range of products, from lipstick to lip balm to concealer. Made entirely of polypropylene, it is both refillable and recyclable. It is equipped with the Rouge Green mechanism, a single-material lipstick mechanism consisting of three parts.
The third product, “Honey Moon,” is an elegant refillable stick designed for versatile use: lipstick, lip balm, concealer, eye contour, etc. It is equipped with Albéa’s Lipshine Green mechanism, a three-piece, single-material lipstick mechanism.
And that’s not all...!
There is a new addition to the “Twirl Jar” family. “Twirl 15 ml” is the latest addition to the range. Two versions are available to meet the different preferences of brands: a plastic base made of PP and PET, or a high-end version with a glass base. It is refillable.
Also worth noting is “Guardian,” a new compact made entirely of PET, designed to protect sensitive cosmetic formulas with an airtight system. Airtightness is ensured by compressing a seal when the lid is screwed on and locked using a multi-point locking mechanism.
The “Hype Compact” model is now fully in line with Albéa’s CSR commitments. This refillable, single-material packaging (100% PET, including the hinge) is designed to reduce plastic waste thanks to its PCR content, while guaranteeing product quality. The Hype Compact is now also available with a new 100% PET transparent lid.
Refillable and made from a single material with a plastic hinge, Sphea is an all-in-one, sustainable compact.
The Square Jar uses recyclable materials. It is pocket-sized and available in two sizes: 12.5 ml and 25 ml.
New mascara brushes
The group’s center of expertise for plastic and fiber brushes unveils a whole new range of mascara brushes.
TIO™ mascara is now available with a PP stem. The pack offers two distinct loading positions, creating a significant difference between mini and maxi application, from natural definition to bold volume.
Combined with the Smack brush, specially developed for creamy formulas, TIO™ features a central reservoir for instant volume and special fibers for optimal absorption and release of the formula. Infinite combinations are possible (day and night, definition and volume, upper and lower lashes).
Rocket is a classic, functional plastic brush that completes the group’s catalog. Designed for creamy formulas, its tapered tip ensures high precision, reaching even the shortest lashes in the corner of the eye.
Hybrush is an innovative hybrid brush combining fiber and plastic in a single applicator.
