Following approval from U.S. and European competition authorities, the merger between the Amcor and Berry Global became effective. As a result, Amcor—an Australian group headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, and listed on the New York and Sydney stock exchanges—became the world’s third-largest packaging company across all sectors, behind Smurfit Westrock and International Paper, with annualized revenue of approximately $23 billion. As for the Health & Beauty packaging sectors, the two groups combined boast a broad product portfolio ranging from face masks, to pumps and including deodorants. An update with Arnaud Amouroux, Vice President of Sales, Health, Beauty, and Wellness.
A brief look back… Berry Global was founded in 1967 as Imperial Plastics in Evansville, Indiana, U.S. At the time, it was just a small packaging manufacturer whose goal was to provide quality solutions to its local customers. In 1972, the injection molding company entered the container market and in 1983, Imperial Plastics was purchased by Jack Berry, Sr., and renamed Berry Plastics. The company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in October 2012 under the ticker symbol BERY.

New Developments
In terms of new developments, Amcor has broadened its range of packaging solutions that help support its customers’ sustainability goals, particularly by helping them meet the requirements of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Examples include ready-to-recycle designs, lightweighted packaging, incorporating post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, and reusable and refillable options.
“An example of our combined packaging solutions,” explains Arnaud Amouroux, “is the on trend Mocha Bottle range, available with Amcor’s recyclable Wave 2cc pump, which can be combined with the Spouted refill pouch as a packaging solution for beauty and personal care applications. Also worth noting is the Shado roll-on deodorant, which features a new lightweight and modern design. that further expands opportunities for brand customization and differentiation. Not to mention the Magic One airless dispenser, which will be launched soon and offers greater flexibility, designed for PPWR compliance, aesthetics that enhance brand image, and an exceptional consumer experience.”
Amcor has launched an e-book that provides a comprehensive overview of the flexible plastic tube market.
Available as a free download, the Amcor Guide to Flexible Plastic Tubes details their many benefits, the various products they are suitable for, the choice of materials and available formats, as well as the important factors brands must consider when selecting the most suitable tube for their application.
It is worth noting that the flexible plastic tube market continues to grow rapidly; Mordor Intelligence forecasts that it will reach approximately $9.5 billion by 2029.
Amcor has also made a significant investment to expand and improve its tube manufacturing capabilities with its new patented DecoFusion hybrid technology process. This process enables the production of a seamless tube featuring high-resolution, visually striking graphics, while maintaining a premium feel and texture.
This DecoFusion tube can contain up to 75% post-consumer recycled content and offers weight savings of up to 27% compared to standard tubes thanks to reduced material usage in the packaging. This change reduces greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 167 tons each year.
Amcor has also launchethree new smaller sizes (15 ml, 20 ml, and 25 ml) in its Exclusive Refill stick line, opening up new possibilities for solid-form deodorants and face and body care product packaging to be reusable. The stick can be made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic using up to 100% CleanStream® PCR polypropylene, an exclusive Amcor technology and its single-material polypropylene (PP) composition facilitates easier recycling.
