Pumpart System: a new production line and sights set on the US!

The end of 2025 marked a decisive milestone for Pumpart System, a company specializing in the manufacture of airless tubes incorporating its patented technology, with the installation of a new manufacturing line, unique in the world, with a capacity exceeding 30 million units per year. This was the culmination of a project lasting more than two years to design and develop a new generation of machines that are more agile, more productive, and very compact. This line expands the range by adding large-capacity Tubairless™ tubes in 50 mm diameter, up to 250 ml, to meet the demand for hair and body care products.

Let’s take a look back at an adventure that began around ten years ago. Pumpart System, a French company based in Paris, was founded by Jérôme Boumnso and Xavier Sutty, who is now its CEO. The former, after studying nuclear physics, came from the pharmaceutical sector, while the latter had worked in high technology in international business development.

“We were closely following the cosmetics industry,” explains Xavier Sutty, "and we wanted to get involved. The observation was simple: in the world of beauty, there was a gap between the tube, which is the most commonly used packaging, and the airless bottle, which meets the challenges of preserving sensitive formulas and ease of use. We invented Tubairless™ by integrating a flexible pouch into a tube, with the pouch acting as a cocoon and piston. It is a hybrid, single-material, 100% PE airless packaging that is the lightest on the market."

The adventure began around ten years ago when international patents were obtained. “The prototypes we had produced,” emphasizes Xavier Sutty, “demonstrated the relevance of our technology, which combined the simplicity of the tube with the performance of airless bottles without the addition of a pump.” The first instinct of the two partners was to visit the major manufacturers in the packaging sector with their patents and samples. The response was, “This technology is incredible, but industrialization seems complicated. Come back and see us when you have succeeded in industrial production and have customers.” They decided to take up the challenge by putting together a team of experts to validate their concept and move on to the operational stage. From a design office, they quickly moved on to becoming packaging manufacturers with their own sales team, focusing heavily on exports, which now account for 40% of their business. Pumpart System has become a “pure player” focused on the distribution and variations of its proprietary technology. The production center is located thirty minutes from Paris.

“Today,” says Xavier Sutty, "with more than 15 million Tubairless delivered to brands in over 25 countries, we are proud to have established our technology in the beauty industry. The outlook is very good, as trends are promising, both with the implementation of PPWR and with the consumer experience back at the forefront of concerns, the naturalness of formulas, and the search for more sober, essential, and economical packaging solutions."

The company’s activity is still mainly focused on European demand.
It is therefore not greatly affected by the increase in customs duties, particularly to the United States. “Our American customers appreciate our exclusive technology,” explains Xavier Sutty, “and have absorbed any additional costs. However, given the growing demand from American brands, we are considering setting up a production unit on the East Coast of the United States.”

Strong environmental benefits!

Tubairless offers brands significant advantages in terms of limiting the impact of primary packaging:
• Only three parts: pouch + tube + cap, with no added pump.
• Up to 60% lighter than a traditional airless bottle.
• Up to 75% reduction in carbon emissions.
• Single material, 100% PE and 100% recyclable.
• RecyClass A: 80% reduction in end-of-life waste compared to a standard tube.

“Not only is eco-design at the heart of our technology and our corporate approach,” explains Xavier Sutty, "but we are also fully committed to a sustainable and socially responsible economy by entrusting the operation of our production lines to a specialized company that employs people with disabilities. As for our customers’ concern to reduce plastic without sacrificing performance or user comfort for their consumers, this is very favorable for us because it encourages brands to question traditional airless pump bottles and favor our technology. A very recent example is the South African brand Skoon Skincare, which replaced its airless bottles with Tubairless for its thick organic cleansers. It reduced its carbon footprint, responded to customer complaints about pumps getting stuck, and also benefited from Tubairless’s more advantageous pricing. We have also launched a new version of our range with an outer casing made of cardboard to reduce plastic by up to 50% compared to the standard version of our Tubairless, which already uses very little plastic.

The next step is to turn Tubairless into a premium beauty device by adding applicators that allow for precise massage. “This type of configuration, with different applicators, offers real added value compared to the applicator tubes currently on the market, thanks to direct 360° distribution, even with the head facing upwards, while retaining the shape and ergonomics of our tube right down to the last drop, ensuring airless protection of the formulas and a 95% recovery rate,” emphasizes Xavier Sutty. We are planning 30 mm and then 25 mm diameter models to meet brand demands. Our range will cover a wide spectrum, from 20 ml to 250 ml, with the same concept. We also want to reinvent the airless refill based on our technology. Tubairless is much more than just packaging; it is also a platform that is enriched by applicators, accessories, new materials, and more original shapes. We are far from having exhausted all the possible variations in the beauty sector and beyond.
