Luisa Oliva: tailor-made skincare, hybrid makeup, and next-generation textures

A pharmacist and cosmetic formulator, Luisa Oliva has been experiencing beauty from within for over 25 years in laboratories, in contact with different cultures, through fragrances and textures that tell the story of the world. She began her career with major groups such as L’Oréal and Intercos, where she was able to evolve, learn, and build her understanding of both scientific rigor and emotional creativity.
Today, she heads LO Consulting, based in Paris, supporting international beauty brands with her expertise in advanced formulation.

What inspired you to create LO Consulting?

Luisa Oliva: After years spent working for large corporations, I felt the need to bring my own vision to the industry. A vision where innovation, ethics, and sensoriality coexist naturally.
Creating LO Consulting allowed me to create a space where science is not only advanced but also meaningful, where each formula serves both the skin and the planet.

Your portfolio includes some of the biggest names in the industry. Can you tell us more about that?

Luisa Oliva: Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with international leaders such as L’Oréal, Intercos, Kanebo, Hermès, Kao, Oriflame, Sisheido, and Clarins.
But my work goes far beyond large corporations. I have also worked with independent, emerging, and niche brands, each of which brings valuable perspectives and great agility.
This diversity allows me to support projects of all sizes and backgrounds, from multinational launches to first-time founders, all over the world.

What types of formulations are you focusing on today?

Luisa Oliva: I must say that K-Beauty is a major source of inspiration for us. In particular, for its approach to sensoriality, transparency, and intelligent layered skincare. Many projects incorporate this philosophy while remaining fully adapted to European regulatory, cultural, and consumer requirements.
We focus on tailor-made skincare, hybrid makeup, and next-generation textures, always designed with a very high level of technical precision.
Our formulations combine biotechnology and botanical active ingredients, allowing us to create products that are both highly effective and holistically designed.

You advocate “Virtuous Beauty.” What does that mean?

Luisa Oliva: “Virtuous Beauty” is my vision for the future of the industry. It means that innovation is only valuable when it is responsible.
We formulate with intention (clean, vegan, cruelty-free) and always with results in mind. We use science to respect the skin, not to overstimulate it.

How do you differ from traditional formulation laboratories?

Luisa Oliva: We don’t just deliver formulas. We bring vision, structure, and strategic clarity.
Our multicultural team based in Paris works internationally with experience spanning both large corporations and independent brands.
We also offer pop-up lab experiences for brands and immersive workshops where teams can learn, create, and understand how textures come to life. It’s a powerful way to develop internal skills and strengthen a culture of innovation.

A wish for the future of the beauty industry?

Luisa Oliva: I hope for an industry that values intelligence over noise, intention over trends, and responsibility over excess.
At LO Consulting, this is the path we choose every day, creating beauty that inspires, respects, and performs.
